Over the last couple of years I have found myself baking less and less due to my husband’s issues with gluten. I have always considered myself a good home baker. Baking is something I enjoy whether cakes, cookies, candies or pies. So far I have not started breads other than in my new bread maker but would really like to try it.
I recently started watch The Great British Baking Show on PBS. I am blown away by what these home bakers can make and one of them is in her late teens.
My mouth waters so much while watching the show. It almost feels like I am cheating on a diet. *laughing*
While watching them create deserts with delicate layers, I can’t help but notice that their show is not cut throat. Bakers encourage each other and at times help each other finish on time. It is so refreshing to watch something so positive. Of course there is always an exception to the rule. One person did take someone’s ice cream out of her freeze but she did not reappear after that show.
So watching them make pies, tarts, biscuits and Mary Berry’s Viennese Whirls is one of the ways I unwind. Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood even have a Master’s edition of the show where they show you how these deserts are suppose to be made.
So far the only recipe I have tried are the Florentine’s which are like a lace cookie partially coated in chocolate. Which should I do next?
